Personal Jesus: Marilyn Manson
Marilyn Manson is another of the many singers who have went to the bank on the back of "Personal Jesus."
Marilyn Mansons Fascination with a Personal Jesus

Marilyn Manson's Personal Jesus pronounces his obvious interest in spiritual influences, especially that of the person of Jesus. Manson attended Heritage Christian School in Canton, OH, (though he did not graduate from there,) played in a faux-Christian death metal band called Satan on Fire, and exihited artwork in his 'Trismegistus' show in Paris in Berlin that featured a large, three-headed Christ painted onto an antique wood panel from a portable embalmers table.(!)
Marilyn Manson: Personal Jesus the Single
For all his eccentricity, Marilyn Manson's Personal Jesus cover does not radically differ from the original by Depeche Mode, save Manson style guitar distortion and gritty vocals.
The video features Manson and bandmembers in tableau vivant style with rear-projection images of political figures, both American and international.
This serves as a first class illustration of attempts to be ecclectic, strange, and off-kilter becoming a four-star yawn.
The song, which appeared on Lest We Forget: The Best Of, and the video, offer suprisingly little new content, save for the creepy scene in the video where Manson is cradling a newborn infant. In that particular instance, the real, substantial exisitence of goodness and purity is strongly contrasted with evil's non-being or descent into nothingness.
