Encouraging Bible Verses: You Shall Have Joy
This encouraging Bible verse continues to speak of the beneifits of a life lived in the presence of the Lord: Joy and reward that the world could never offer.
"You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore."
(Psalms 16.11)
Commentary on this Encouraging Bible Verse
As we've spoken of in many other places, the real key to the Christian life is not that we are going to heaven someday. The focus of the believer, and indeed the reward, shows up receiving reconciliation with God right now.
Upon belief and confession in Jesus as Messiah and Lord, God sends His Spirit to live in us and through us. The High, Holy, and Transcendent God of the Universe comes down to live in the one who has embraced Him.
Hence, 'in your presence there is fullness of joy...' The presence of God saturates the life of the believer. With mind and heart recalling and looking out to God, the presence becomes active and real.
This kind of intimacy provides the direction we so desperately need. He shows us the way to walk, the path of life.
This intimacy can also fill us with a pleasure that the world cannot compete with. C.S. Lewis once contended that our desires are not too strong, they are rather too weak. We are content with the mere pleasures of the world when we could have the pleasures of the Father. It can be compared to a child who would rather play in the mud on a cold, rainy day than go to a warm beach.
Are your desires to weak? This encouraging Bible verse teaches us that if you live in His presence, you will have joy!
