Using a Bible Concordance to Pump Up Your Original Language Knowledge

With a Bible Concordance, finding the Greek or Hebrew word behind the English word in your Bible is a fairly easy proposition. When you can achieve this, it will add depth of understanding to your study of God's word, the Bible.

To do this, follow the simple instructions below, which uses the word "love," as it occurs in Matthew 5:43

1) Look up your word, alphabetically, in the front of your concordance.

2) Locate the particular verse that your word occurs in. We've located it here.

3) Look to the right of the verses , where you will see either an italicized or regular number.

4) If you've found a regular number, flip to the back of your Strong's-style-style Bible Concordance and locate the Hebrew Dictionary. If you've found an italicized number, flip to the back of your Bible Concordance and locate the Greek Dictionary.

However, in our example, the number is an italicized number twenty-five. (See first picture)

Note: Make sure turn to the right dictionary or else you will locate the wrong word. Normal numbers: Hebrew. Italicized: Greek.

5) Once you're in the proper dictionary, know that the entries are listed by number. Simply page forward as the numbers increase, till we find the right number. In this case, in the Greek Dictionary, we don't have to go too far.

6) There you have it! The Greek or Hebrew word, along with any important information about that word, as well as a working defintion.
